Common Sony TV faults
- Red light blinking a set number of times. The blink count points to the faulty section: power, backlight or mainboard.
- Sound but no picture. Backlight strips or driver.
- Won’t turn on. Power supply board.
- Stuck on the Sony or Android/Google TV start-up screen. Mainboard or firmware.
- No signal on HDMI inputs.
Count the blinks
Before you call, count how many times the red light blinks before it pauses (for example, 6 blinks, pause, repeat). Tell us that number with the model. It speeds up the diagnosis.
Under warranty?
While your Bravia is under warranty, contact Sony Australia. They’ll direct you to their authorised service centre. Out of warranty, we repair all Bravia models.

What does the Sony red light blinking mean?
It’s a self-diagnostic code. The number of blinks indicates the fault area, such as the power supply or backlight. Bring the count with you.
Can you fix a Sony OLED?
Yes, for power, board and firmware faults. Panel faults usually aren’t economical.
Is it worth repairing an older Bravia?
Often, yes. Older Bravias are well built and backlight or power repairs are good value.
